Please note that getting a physical SIM card in India (as a foreigner) is very complicated and we’d highly recommend not going through the hassle.
If you’re coming from abroad, we recommend you get an eSIM plan (for eg through Revolut or RedTeaGO).

Yes, in fact we recommend having an international credit card over bringing cash. MasterCard and VISA are accepted in most places, AmEx in some places. India is highly digital and almost everywhere you can pay by card. Just bring a small amount of cash for emergencies in case you cannot use your card.

Expect the climate to be mildly cool and pleasant, with ranging humidity. Mornings and evenings can get chilly. We advise bringing layers with sweaters or shawls/scarves and a light jacket so that you are well-equipped for any weather :)
Similarly, we recomend bringing at least one pair of closed and one pair of open shoes.

It is crucial that you check anything related to vaccines with a medical professional, bearing in mind you will be staying in cities.
We recommend bringing first-aid medication such as Ibuprofen, paracetamol and stomach-medicines. These are all easily accessible in Kolkata otherwise.
We recommend either carrying a mosquito repellent or buying one on arrival.

In India, the plug types are C, D and M. You can find pictures of each of these types online.
If you are coming from Switzerland, you can use your type C plugs (two prongs) in India.

If you don’t already have it, we recommend downloading the Uber app. Uber works very well in India.
Local alternatives to Uber include Rapido and Yatri Sathi.
We recommend not walking around as the cities are not pedestrian friendly, and to privilege traveling around by groups of at least two people.
